Ambulance Assistants Training Programme Now Open (Apply with Grade 10–12)

Ambulance services and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) training providers across South Africa are inviting applications from motivated youth to join the Ambulance Assistant / Basic Ambulance Assistant (BAA) training pathway. This programme prepares candidates for entry-level emergency care roles and further paramedic studies.

 Programme Overview

The Ambulance Assistant training equips learners with essential pre-hospital emergency care skills, including patient handling, first aid, basic life support, and ambulance operations support. Graduates may work under supervision within EMS teams and emergency response units.

 Minimum Entry Requirements

  • Grade 10, 11, or 12 (Matric not always required)

  • South African ID

  • Physically and medically fit

  • Able to work shifts and respond to emergencies

  • Good communication skills

  • No criminal record

  • Valid driver’s licence (advantageous but not mandatory)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)

  • Patient assessment & vital signs

  • CPR & first aid

  • Trauma care basics

  • Ambulance safety & operations

  • Emergency scene management

  • Patient transport procedures
