EWSETA Water & Wastewater Learnership 2026

The EWSETA Water & Wastewater Learnership 2026 is a government-funded training programme that prepares unemployed youth for careers in water treatment, sanitation, and wastewater management. It combines classroom learning with practical workplace experience at municipal water treatment plants.


📌 Learnership Overview

  • Programme: National Certificate – Water & Wastewater Process Control

  • SAQA ID: 60190 / 61709

  • NQF Level: Level 2–4 (depending on programme provider)

  • Duration: 9–12 months

  • Stipend: ± R3,000 per month

  • Target: Unemployed South African youth

  • Sector: Water treatment, sanitation, environmental services

This qualification prepares learners to work in municipal water treatment plants, wastewater facilities, and environmental services departments.


🎓 What You Will Learn

During the learnership you will gain both theoretical training and practical experience in areas such as:

  • Water purification and treatment systems

  • Wastewater and sewage treatment processes

  • Water quality testing and monitoring

  • Plant operations and pump systems

  • Safety standards and environmental compliance

  • Sampling and laboratory testing of water

✅ Minimum Requirements

To qualify, applicants usually must:

  • Be a South African citizen

  • Age 18 – 34 years

  • Be currently unemployed

  • Have Grade 10 or Matric

  • Have a valid South African ID

  • Be willing to complete 12 months training

  • Preferably live near the training municipality
